Description
A Motion Sensor is a device that detects movement in a specific area and triggers a response—like turning on a light, sounding an alarm, or starting a camera recording.
They detect changes in the environment such as heat, sound, or movement. When a change is detected, the sensor sends a signal to a connected system.
1. Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensor
- Detects body heat (infrared energy)
- Common in home security systems and automatic lights
- Best for indoor use
2️⃣ Ultrasonic Sensor
- Sends out ultrasonic waves and measures their reflection
- Detects movement by changes in sound wave patterns
- Good for large indoor spaces
3️⃣ Microwave Sensor
- Emits microwave signals and detects reflection changes
- Covers larger areas than PIR
- Can detect movement through thin walls
4️⃣ Dual Technology Sensor
- Combines PIR + Microwave
- Reduces false alarms
- Often used in security systems
